Final Project Pre-Production

Treatment:
For this project I want to do something lighthearted and comedic. I really like fall so I want that season to be the setting for my animation. My teaser also sort of sparked this idea in my head, so there is where my inspiration came from. The animation will start with the screen filled with grass and as the camera slowly zooms out there will be an empty field. A few trees will grow from the ground, and as they grow leaves will fall from their branches and blow in the wind. While this is happening, a road will “grow” through the middle of the screen to finalize the scene. This will continue to animate a little bit with the leaves blowing and possibly birds flying. Then it will zoom into a branch on a tree where there will be an owl sitting. A squirrel will come running up and begin talking to the owl. This dialogue will be some comedic banter back and forth. I’m not exactly sure what they will be talking about yet, but the owl will speak in a slow Hispanic accent and the Squirrel will talk extremely quickly in a high-pitched voice. At the end of the conversation the squirrel will get frustrated and hit the owl with an acorn and run away. The animation will end with the owl just sitting on the branch blinking a few times.
All of the animation will be a front view of the animals talking. I plan on drawing all of the images in either Illustrator or Photoshop, or both. All of the animation will be done in After Effects. For the beginning, when the trees and the road grow, I will use different masks to create this look. The leaves will be animated by simply changing their position and using keyframes. I will use parenting on the Squirrel to make it run onto the branch and hit the owl with the acorn. The dialogue will be recorded using the voices of two of my friends. I will also add music to the background of the dialogue and the opening.
I want to include a bunch of different textures in the scene. I also will use a cheerful color scheme that incorporates fall colors, and ultimately want my animation to be very upbeat. I am doing this lighthearted concept because I want my animation to put people in a good mood.
